Find out how your Indian degree translates to the standard North American academic landscape.

Understanding Indian CGPA to Canada GPA Conversion

When applying to Canadian universities for higher education, you'll need to know how your Indian CGPA translates into the standard Canadian 4.0 or 4.3 grading scales. Much like the US, Canadian admissions offices typically look for a GPA on a 4-point scale, and they often use your percentage as the baseline to map your grades to their equivalent GPA band.

This calculator handles that mapping automatically: it first converts your CGPA to its percentage equivalent (using the standard 9.5 multiplier), and then maps that percentage to the appropriate GPA band on both the standard 4.0 scale and the 4.3 scale:

WES Canada Evaluations

For official purposes — like university admissions or immigration through Express Entry — you'll often need a formal credential evaluation from WES Canada. WES performs a course-by-course assessment of your transcripts, mapping each individual grade rather than just multiplying your final CGPA. This calculator provides a useful, informal estimate to help you plan your application, but should not be treated as a replacement for a formal WES report when one is required.
